Rules to remember :
(1) जर वाक्यात no , not, never, nothing, nobody, no one, none , too , do not , does not , did not असल्यास काढून टाकावे .
(2) जर does not काढले तर क्रियापदाला s किंवा es लावा लावा.
(3) जर did not काढले तर क्रियापद भूतकाळात लिहून वाक्यात येणारा समान भाग एकदाच लिहावा.
(4) Neither ….. nor ने जोडलेले वाक्य compound sentence ( संयुक्त वाक्य ) असते.
💁 Rule No 1
जेव्हा दोन्ही वाक्यातील क्रियापद भिन्न असतात तेव्हा Neither ….. nor वापरतात.
Ex . (1) We don't make many runs. We don't take quick wickets. ( Use neither … nor )
Ans : We neither make many runs nor take quick wickets.
Ex . (2) Bandu does not study. He does not keep quiet. ( Use neither … nor )
Ans : Bandu neither studies nor keeps quiet.
👉 Rule No 2
जेव्हा दोन्ही वाक्यातील क्रियापदे समान असतात तेव्हा Neither ….. nor वापरतात.
Ex . (1) They don't play hockey.They don't play football. (Use neither … nor)
Ans :They play neither hockey nor football.
Ex . (2) My mother does not like yellow saree. She does not like red. (Use neither … nor)
Ans : My mother likes neither yellow saree nor red.
👭 Rule No. 3
जेव्हा दोन्ही वाक्यातील सहाय्यकारी क्रियापदे समान असतात तेव्हा Neither ….. nor वापरतात.
Ex. (1) True love is not physical. It is not romantic. (Use neither … nor)
Ans : True love is neither physical nor romantic.
Ex. (2) There was no sign of anybody. There was no sign of anything.(Use neither… nor)
Ans : There was no sign of neither anybody nor anything.
Note :
When two singular subjects are connected by neither…nor the verb is usually singular.
Combine the following sentences using - neither…nor
(1) He cannot speak English. He cannot write English. ( Use neither … nor )
Ans : He can neither speak nor write English.
(2) He did not eat the cake himself. He did not let others eat it. ( Use neither … nor )
Ans : He neither ate the cake himself nor allowed others to eat it.
(3) You should not meet him. You should not talk to him. ( Use neither … nor )
Ans : You should neither meet him nor talk to him.
(4) She has not eaten anything in two days. She hasn’t slept either.( Use neither … nor )
Ans : She has neither eaten anything nor slept in two days.
(5) The old woman cannot walk. She cannot talk. ( Use neither … nor )
Ans : The old woman can neither walk nor talk.
(6) She is not beautiful. She is not intelligent. ( Use neither … nor )
Ans : She is neither beautiful nor intelligent.
(7) He does not attend the class regularly. He does not learn his lessons either.
( Use neither … nor )
Ans : He neither attends the class regularly nor learns his lessons.
(8) This book is not interesting. It is not useful either. ( Use neither … nor )
Ans : This book is neither interesting nor useful.
(9) James did not pass the test. Peter did not pass the test. ( Use neither … nor )
Ans : Neither James nor Peter passed the test.
(10) Mike does not play cricket. His brother also does not play cricket. ( Use neither … nor )
Ans : Neither Mike nor his brother plays cricket.
